Reign of Jesus wins Starr FM Church Olympic

Accra, June 5, GNA – Reign of Jesus picked  nine points to win this year’s Starr FM Church Olympic Games held at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Saturday.

Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church took the second position with six points, while Apostolic Church of Ghana placed third with three points.

For their prizes, the champions received the magnificent trophy, medals and a cheque for GHC10,000 air time while the others also had trophies and medals.

In a keenly contested football event, Osu Presbyterian Church defeated Apostolic Church 4-3 on penalties to emerge champions.

On their way to the finals, Osu Presbyterian edged out Winners Chapel International 2-1 on penalties, while Apostolic beat New Faith 3-2 also on penalties.

The Sack Race trophy went to New Faith while The Tug-Of-Peace trophy went to Reign of Jesus.

The one-day games of soccer, volleyball, sack race and Tug-of Peace, was sponsored by Coca Cola Monster Energy, Voltic Mineral Water, Bayport Financial Savings and Loans and S.C. Johnson Company Limited.

Mr Kwesi Anim Adjei, General Manager (Radio and Print) of EIB Network commended the churches for the sportsmanship exhibited throughout the games.

He expressed the hope that the network would organize bigger competition with bigger prizes next year.
