MONROVIA, Jan. 21 (LINA) – Grand Bassa County District #5 Representative, Thomas Goshua, has said his agenda for 2019 will ensure that the people of his district get good healthcare, roads and education to return to the pre-war status.

Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency (LINA), Representative Goshua said the health needs of the people of District #5, Grand Bassa County and the road challenges are being addressed as evidenced by the recent groundbreaking ceremony to construct a 25-bedroom medical facility in Gio Town and a 19-kilometre road project which is currently ongoing in the district.

Goshua stated that currently there are three functioning health facilities with one owned by a private company, while the two are operated by the government.

The health facilities, according to him, have no proper medical equipment and are always facing shortage of drugs, adding that, the health of every citizen is very important and district #5 citizens are no exception.

Representative Goshua, who is also the Chairman of the Grand Bassa Legislative Caucus, indicated that he is strongly advocating to revamp the Government hospital in the Grand Bassa County as it has been down for couple of months now.

Goshua told LINA that he is currently working with partners and the local leadership of the county to improve the lives and wellbeing of the people of his district and the county.

Goshua said he will also communicate the poor status of the healthcare delivery system in the county to the Ministry of Health and will work with the Ministry to ensure that the government hospital, which is the only referral hospital in Grand Bassa County, is improved.

He said while submitting his annual report to members of his district, the people recommended that he pays regular visits to the district to keep them abreast of happenings from the legislature.

« I have decided to meet with my constituents twice a month to give a report and to listen to the plight of the people so that I can better advocate for them, » Goshua said.
