Rep. Gray Backs Pres. Weah To Retain State Power, Calls For Plan Recalibration

MONROVIA, Oct. 5 (LINA) –Montserrado County District #8 Representative, Acarous M. Gray, has called on members of the ruling Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) to work tremendously hard to support the President’s pronouncement that he will defeat the opposition come 2023 presidential and general elections.

President George M. Weah at the celebration of his 55th birth anniversary on October 1, 2921 said that the CDC will defeat the opposition parties in the forthcoming 2023 elections,

Speaking Monday on a local radio talk show in Monrovia, the District #8 lawmaker described the president’s statement as “a huge pronouncement,” adding that he didn’t speak as a president but the Standard Bearer of the CDC, adding that a strategy in recalibration by members of the ruling party is required to ensure that president’s statement comes to reality.

“I hope that everyone of us will support the idea and the manifesto of the Coalition for Democratic Change, because the statement made by the President is a big statement and I’ve been thinking about that for two days now, as the president didn’t make the pronouncement as a president but he did that as the standard bearer of the party, » he stressed.

Rep. Gray further said that the President’s pronouncement is a revolutionary mandate and the leadership of the ruling establishment has to recalibrate its strategies, adding that all segments of the party have to get prepared to function actively because the President has made it clear to all members of the party.

“The President has made it clear and said ‘I will whip them,’ do you know what it means for somebody to say I will whip you? So all the party cells, including the coordinators, the party Chairperson, Zonal Heads, Youths, and the Women groups, everyone has to recalibrate now and get on their feet and start working because the President made it clear and the Vice Standard Bearer was sitting there, so everyone needs to start working,” said Rep. Gray.

Gray is of the opinion that now is the time for all officials to work in line with the government’s mandate and fully execute their performance bond in line with the required timeframe, noting that the Minister of State, Nathaniel F. McGill, has a great role to play in such a direction.

« He has a great role to play because it is where we have to make our requests and he submits it to the desk of the President of the Republic of Liberia, so under-achievers of the government should not be pampered anymore, everyone has to work, » Rep. Gray emphasized.

Meanwhile, the District #8 lawmaker has re-emphasized that in the upcoming 2023 presidential and general elections, the CDC will apply all efforts to empower government public relations institutions and also strengthen their relationship with the private media.

He also said that in the past, the Government had been delinquent in terms of providing support to the Ministry of Information and the Liberia Broadcasting System, asserting that they will make sure to provide every support to the duo government PR institutions.

« We should take full responsibility if ELBC and the Ministry of Information are not effective because we are not giving them the necessary support and that is why we will make sure to give them every support and if we do that and they do not perform we will dismiss them, » noted Rep. Gray.
