Porto Novo, Jun 23 (Inforpress) – Santo Antão now has, from this Monday, ten new tourist units, whose inaugural event, presided over by the president of the Association of Municipalities of the island, Aníbal Fonseca, takes place in the Planalto Norte, in the municipality of Porto Novo.
These tourist units were set up in the framework of the Tourism and Communities project of Santo Antão, financed by Luxembourg Cooperation, through the Employment and Employability Programme, which aims to promote local employment initiatives in the framework of community-based rural tourism.
For the operationalization of the project, the Luxembourg Cooperation granted funds to the Fund for the Promotion of Employment and Training (FPEF) for the financing of business units belonging to local associations, which are inaugurated today, in the presence of the head of business of the Luxembourg Embassy in Cabo Verde, Thomas Barbancey.
According to a notice from FPEF, these developments, distributed in a balanced way by the three municipalities of the island, make up the “network of tourism and communities of the island of Santo Antão” that bet, from now on, on the dynamic of rural tourism in this region.
