Accra, Nov. 6, GNA – The Gas Consortium (TGC) will hold the 6th edition of Ghana Gas Forum (GGF2019) under the theme: “Towards the Optimization of Regional Gas Resources”, from  Monday, November 18 to 20.

The theme would help to assess the extent to which the Sub-region’s gas resources could be leveraged to impact positively on the development of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA), a statement issued in Accra by the Consortium, has said.

The Forum is the leading energy conference focused on bolstering gas policymaking via stakeholder engagements among government, industry and other relevant players.

Mr Charles Darku, a former Managing Director of Tullow, GRIDCo and the current Chairman of the Advisory Board for The Gas Consortium, would chair the forum.

It would provide the platform for delegates to reflect on the opportunities to develop a globally competitive gas sector on the back of the availability of significant gas reserves in the West African sub-region.

There would be the Energy Minister’s Session, where the Government’s policy priorities would be presented – a key highlight of the event.

Additionally, there would also be an all-day CEOs Interactive Session to allow the top officers of a range of companies along the gas value chain to present their perspectives on topical issues affecting the industry.

« This year’s forum will continue to invite input from investors, industry professionals, technocrats and political actors during activities such as the Roundtable Session, » it the statement added.

The GGF2019 conference would open with an invitation-only Pre-Conference Networking Event on the evening of Monday, November, 18.

There would be an exclusive post-conference Strategy Session on 21st and 22nd November, 2019, to be facilitated by Mr. Emmanuel Anyaeto, MD/CEO of Integrated Gas and Energy Services LLC, Los Angeles USA.

It will focus on “The Impact of the ACFTA on Natural Gas and Power Trading”.

This component of the forum will enable TGC contribute towards building the capacity of the gas industry, by engaging sector leadership on key areas that impact business strategy and policy planning.

The statement quoted the Executive Secretary, Mr. Senam F. Gbeho, as saying, “This year’s forum provides another opportunity for stakeholders to address policy issues in Ghana’s emerging gas industry while adopting a forward-looking regional view that promotes the shared interests ».

It said the forum’s content and structure reflected on the long-term sustainability of the industry and linkages with the broader national and continental development agenda.

« The participation of colleagues from other countries within the West-Africa sub-region will ensure that discussions factor in view points and positions that advance the objective of optimising regional gas resources”.
