Tarkwa police organise route march ahead of Christmas festivities

Accra, Dec. 11, GNA -The Tarkwa Police Command at the weekend embarked on a route march ahead of the Christmas and New Year.

The Military, Prisons, Fire Service, Immigration and Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) also participated in the route march, which started from the Divisional Headquarters around 0530 hours.

The troops proceeded to Tamso, through some principal streets and ended at the Tarkwa main bus terminal.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency after the march, the Tarkwa Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Dennis Abade, said the objective of the route march was to unite the security agencies because they share a common purpose.

He said the route march went on smoothly and he expressed the hope of sustaining it on monthly bases.

ACP Abade stressed that the officers and men have exhibited that they were physically fit to protect the citizenry throughout the yuletide.

All the security agencies have collaborated and adopted more proactive ways of curbing crime during, before and after the festive season, he indicated.

The Divisional Commander hinted that the police was adequately prepared to provide maximum security and guarantee the safety of residents before, during and after Christmas.
