Accra , Mar. 21, GNA – Emmanuel Sackey, 22, an unemployed man from Adeiso has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by an Asamankese Magistrate Court for stealing.
Sackey who was accused of stealing air condition pipes estimated at GhC3,000.00, pleaded guilty before the court and was convicted on his own plea.
The court presided over by Ms Cynthia Blagoggie sentenced the accused to a fine of GhC2,400.00 or default serve a six-month jail term of which the accused failed to pay.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Samuel Dodzi told the court that on March 1, this year, at about 1400 hours, a witness in the case was working at a building site of the complainant at Adeiso when he overhead an unusual sound in the building.
He said then saw the accused carrying away a sack full of items.
Chief Inspector Dodzi said the accused was chased and arrested and when the sack was opened some broken air condition pipes were found in the sack.
The Prosecution said while the contents of the sack was being examined, the accused escaped but was later re-arrested a week later by the Adeiso Police and after investigations.
