« Upper West should make the best out of the Youth and Sports centre »- Sports Minister

WA, Jan.22 GNA- Mr Isaac Asiamah, minister for Youth and Sports, has called on the youth of Wa and it’s environs, to make good use of the multipurpose youth and sports resource centre being constructed at Wa to harness their talent for mother Ghana, when completed.

Mr. Asiamah, who is on an inspection tour at the centre, said the Akuffo Addo led Government was keen on providing the youth of Ghana, the avenue to nurture their talents by providing sporting amenities nationwide.

This, he said, would go a long way to alleviate idleness and curb social vices.

« I am happy that government is intervening in the provision of sporting facilities here to help nurture the youth of Upper West.

« There abound a lot of talents here, but there has not been the facilities to unearth and exhibit those talents, so I believe this has come at the right time for the people here to enjoy this modern sporting facilities being put up here.

« This is the time for the youth to eschew social vices and enjoy this facility, which would could host both indoor and outdoor sporting events, which could win laurels for the country in the future » he said.

In an interview with GNA Sports, Mr Hamidu Chinia Issshaku, Deputy Regional Minister for Upper West said, as a Government there was the need to promote youth development and one way to do that was the creation of modern sporting facilities.

« This multipurpose youth and resource centre would help the youth to develop their capacity in so many ways to the benefit of Ghana in the future.

« There are so many talent going waste in the region due to the lack of sporting infrastructure but with what the government is putting up, Upper West would provide future champions for the nation.

The multipurpose Youth and Sports Resource centre, when completed would have a FIFA standard football playing pitch, tartan tracks, volley ball pitch, basket ball pitch, handball pitch, ICT centre, entrepreneursip centre, counselling centre and modern restaurants among others.
