Youth of Enchi call for improved infrastructure

  19 Février      56        Travaux publics (430),

Enchi (WNR), Feb 19, GNA – The youth in Enchi in the Aowin Municipality in the Western North Region have appealed to the government to provide them with basic social amenities to help improve their living conditions.

They said the community was burdened with bad roads within the town and a lack of job opportunities for the youth.

The youth, who made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, called on the government to reshape the road network in the Municipality to help open up the area and ease the burden on residents.

Mr Joseph Turkson, Secretary of the Aowin Youth Forum, said the lack of employable skills training and opportunities had made many of the youth jobless.

He said the youth and people of the Municipality fought in various ways for the creation of the Western North Region, which is endowed with rich natural and human resources.

He, therefore, called on all relevant state agencies and individual stakeholders to help in the sensitization of the Ghanaian populace that Enchi and Aowin were a safer place, with a serene and favourable environment for business growth and career advancement for both public servants and private sector operators.

Nana Evans Addo Kwarteng, Personal Secretary to the Omanhene of the Aowin Traditional Area, on his part, said the chiefs and elders were ready to support investors to establish businesses and vocational training schools to provide opportunities for the youth in the community.

According to him, the chiefs in the Traditional Area have resolved to implement life-enhancing policies and projects that would promote growth in the area and improve the quality of life for the citizens.

Nana Kwarteng said the chiefs and elders were prepared and ready for the implementation of concrete ideas that would put to rest chieftaincy disputes and forge a unified front to bring the needed development to the area.

He said the leadership of the Traditional Council was ready to collaborate with the youth to accelerate development in the area.
