The future of African children depends on the actions of governments and society – Associations

Praia, Jun 16 (Inforpress) – The associations which care for the rights of children consider that the future of African children, who continue to be victims of violence, abuse and exploitation, depends heavily on the actions of the governments and society.
Speaking to Inforpress, regarding the International Day of the African Child, which takes place today, the presidents of Acrides and the  of Resident African Communities Platform, Lourença Tavares and José Ramos Viana, respectively, highlighted the “neglect” of the rulers and called for greater action to enforce the rights.
“The African continent is rich in rawmaterials, but poor in policies that offer better living conditions to their children, better education and care in the health sector, as well as to end violence and female genital mutilation,” said Lourença Tavares, for whom it is time to end certain cultures that harm children and adolescents.
José Ramos Viana, from the African Resident Communities Platform, considers that the right of children in Africa is “very neglected” to the point of reaching “worrying proportions” and in an “unusual” way.
