African Diaspora to invest $5.4 million in Ghana’s key sectors

Accra, Dec. 08, GNA – Professionals from the African diaspora are collaborating with the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce (GNCCI) and Industry to invest $5.4 million into key sectors of the economy.

These individuals are drawn under the tutelage of the African Diaspora Development Institute (ADDI), who have bought into the « Year of Return » campaign to create opportunities for the masses, particularly the youth with the needed technology.

The investments which will flow into key sectors like trade, agriculture, health, IT, education, and manufacturing would be in stages; phases one and two.

This was disclosed at a press conference when GNCCI & ADDI launched the « 1st Wakanda One City of Return Expo » in Accra.

Madam Arikana Chihombori-Quao, the President of ADDI, said phase one of the project would see investments earliest in poultry farming, manufacturing plant, IT innovation centre, drone technology and a virtual University at the cost of $400, 000.

She indicated that a forty-acre piece of land would be used for a Resort including hotel, restaurant, and gift shops.

« We intend to build a residential community with a thousand homes. In all, the Asebu kingdom in the Central Region had given the diaspora 5040 acres of land for investment, » she added.

The construction of a 200-bed hospital is also part of the phase one, costing $5million to be completed in six months and to engage about eight hundred doctors.

Madam Chihombori-Quao mentioned that they would build a business incubation centre with GNCCI to give interest-free loans of $1,000 each to women.

« ADDI & GNCCI believed that AfCFTA becomes more viable if Africa’s diaspora and continent leverage on the opportunities available, » the President said.

Meanwhile, Mrs Victoria Hajar, 1st Vice President, GNCCI said the collaboration was to promote the African transformational agenda.

She said through the Chamber, Ghana would introduce the diaspora to the businesses community for networking and support.

The « Wakanda One City of Return Trade Expo » will end on December 13, 2021.
