LNP Deepens Probe As Two Bodies Found In Canoe Mishap

BUCHANAN, Aug. 11 (LINA) – The Liberia National Police (LNP) Grand Bassa Detachment has deepened investigation following the discovery of two bodies linked to the reported canoe capsize situation in the county, leading to the disappearance of four individuals.

According to Police report, the four persons are only identified as Russian, Abel, Emmanuel Mensah, and Jay-dyu Darkina.

The corpss of 33 year-old Jay-dyu Darkina alias ‘Jay-U’ was discovered on Friday, August 5, while that of 28 years-old Emma-el Mensah was found Saturdaymorning, August 6, 2022 in the same “Little Bassa” environment in District #1.

Little Bassa Town is more than an hour drive away from Grand Bassa Capital, Buchanan, where the incident happened.

Both individuals were part of the four men who were reported missing since the early part of August this year in Buchanan

following a Canoe capsize that two persons survived, including Russian and Othello Johnson, while two men only identified as Appiah and Abel are yet to be discovered since the incident.

The deceased were pronounced dead by medical practitioners assigned at the County Health Team Office who accompanied the Police and family members during the search period.

Jay-dyu was a motorcyclist and a resident of Biafra Community in Buchanan.

The corpses of both individuals were align with their names after family members confirmed to State security personnel through description of their relatives’ dress code and other facial identities; thus voluntarily giving approval for immediate burial owing to the decomposed state of the bodies.
