GBARNGA Nov. 14 (LINA) – Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) Director General, Madam Estella Liberty Kemue, has said her entity is in the process of recruiting new breed of employees affecting rural Liberia.
Madam Kemue, speaking in Gbarnga recently at a media gathering, expressed delight over the brilliant performance of rural journalists whom, she said, are capable of making significant improvement in the media landscape of Liberia if they are brought on board at the national level.
According to the LBS boss, 60 percent of well performing journalists in the nation’s capital, including those working with the Liberia Broadcasting System, come from the rural community and, as such, they must be given priority in the upcoming recruitment process.
She wants rural journalists muster the courage to improve their skills by taking advantage of training and other opportunities that come from LBS as well as other media institutions and stop looking down upon themselves by only limiting their services at community radio level.
Meanwhile, Director General Kemue pointed out that her entity spends US$19,000 to run a single substation across the country, adding, that other substations in two counties – Maryland and River Gee – will soon be inaugurated.
Madam Kemue then encouraged the public to take advantage of the state broadcaster which is being run by taxpayers money.
