14th African Infrastructure Forum Kicks Off in Rabat

Rabat, 12/12/2022 (MAP) – The African Infrastructure Forum kicked off, Monday in Rabat, with the participation of many personalities and decision-makers from about thirty countries, with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as guest of honor of this 14th edition.

In addition to topics and themes related to transport infrastructure, participants in this two-day event, initiated under the theme « Transport infrastructure: an imperative for an integrated Africa », will address the issues of road connectivity and challenges related to port, rail and airport infrastructure.

Speaking on this occasion, the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, said that transport infrastructure is a prerequisite for economic integration in Africa.

Through its policy of voluntary cooperation and solidarity, based on South-South cooperation, Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is working for repositioning Africa on the international scene, said Baraka.

Stressing that Africa needs a real investment industry in order to move towards an emerging continent, the minister highlighted the distinguished position of Morocco in Africa in terms of investment and cooperation agreements with friendly and brotherly countries.

For his part, Alexandre Kayembe, the Special Advisor on Infrastructure of the Congolese President, highlighted the enormous potential that his country offers in terms of realization of major infrastructure projects.

He thanked the organizers for having chosen the DRC as the guest of honor of this edition and host country of the next edition of the African Infrastructure Forum.

For this 2022 edition, organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the participants will screen the major advances, delays and weaknesses of infrastructure and, in turn, to arrive at a diagnosis to guide the authorities in their public policies.
