Head of State promulgates Amnesty Law and grants pardon

  22 Décembre      31        Politics (18691),

Luanda – The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, promulgated this Wednesday, in Luanda, the Amnesty Law which was recently approved by the National Assembly, thus granting pardon for some court sentences.

ANGOP has learnt that the pardon happens in the ambit of the festive season, chiefly the celebration of Christmas.

A note from the President’s Press Office states that with these decisions, the Head of State grants to the convicted prisoners an opportunity to be reintegrated into the social and family environment.

The document says the President’s pardon includes only those who have served half the time of their sentences with a good behaviour report, as well as without posing a danger to society once the restoration of their freedom is granted.
