Royal Navy Rescues 58 Sub-Saharan Migrants off Laayoune

Rabat, 14/03/2024 (MAP) – A High Seas Patrol of the Royal Navy intercepted, on Wednesday, 114 km southwest of the city of Laâyoune, a boat carrying 58 sub-Saharan individuals attempting irregular migration, including 10 women and 3 minors, who intended to reach the Canary Islands.

The rescued individuals received first aid on board before being safely taken to the port of Laâyoune and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for standard administrative procedures, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
