Artisans must help bridge unemployment gap-MP

Ho, June 4, GNA – Mr. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra, Member of Parliament for Ho West, has challenged graduates from Vocational and Technical Institutions to use skills acquired to create jobs and bridge the unemployment gap.

He said the advantage of vocational education was the provision of employable skills to trainees, and said it was therefore important for beneficiaries to see themselves as entrepreneurs and create opportunities for themselves and others.

Mr. Bedzrah said this in a speech read on his behalf at the ninth graduation ceremony of Erijem Institute of Floral Design and Culinary Art in Ho, under the theme « Employment Generation through Vocational Education ».

He asked the graduates to form partnerships and pool resources to establish enterprises that would create opportunities and grow the local economy.

Mrs. Marian Adzroe, Founder, Erijem Institute of Floral Design and Culinary Art said what the graduants had achieved after months of training was as a result of hard work and determination and that the experience gained should shape and define their future.

She said the Institute had trained over 300 students across the country since its establishment in 2010.
A total of 80 students comprising 78 females and two males graduated this year with certificates in cake decoration and sugar craft, balloon and floral decoration, and catering.
