Angola to attend 42nd International Tourism fair

  17 Janvier      56        Tourism (2488),

Luanda – Angola will participate in the 42nd Edition of the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) taking place from 18 to 22 January, 2023 in Madrid, Spain.

One of the companies that will represent the country is TAAG Airlines, which will take advantage of the event to promote the newly opened Luanda-Madrid-Luanda route, since July 2022.

TAAG is expected to  boost the company’s reputation in the international market, meeting with strategic partners and suppliers, states a note released by the institution reached ANGOP Tuesday.

It will also collect data on the aviation sector in Europe, on industry trends, as well as to promote Angola and the air carrier’s destinations to FITUR exhibitors and visitors.

Currently, TAAG flies to Madrid three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) on Boeing 777-300 aircraft with capacity for 289 passengers, 8 in first class, 53 in executive class and 228 in economy class, respectively.

Since the beginning of the operation, it has already transported more than 19,500 passengers and the plan, for the present year of 2023, will be to raise levels, judging by the diplomatic and business relations that bind Angola and Spain.

In addition to direct flights, TAAG has a partnership agreement (codeshare and interline) with the Spanish flag company – IBÉRIA, signed in May 2022, between TAAG and IBERIA.

Under this agreement, passengers from both companies benefit from a single ticket, purchased in local currency, valid for both airlines’ itinerary and access to combined TAAG/IBERIA destinations.

Thus, « IBERIA passengers » with a stopover or departure in Madrid now have Luanda as the gateway to the African continent and will subsequently use TAAG for other destinations in Africa and America.

This FITUR’s edition is dedicated to tourism professionals at a global level and reserves business meetings with agendas aimed at identifying needs, offering solutions and generating agreements between companies and entrepreneurs.

The Madrid International Tourism Fair also has an exclusive forum planned to promote brands, new products, the latest trends in tourism, as well as fostering contacts and disclose new ideas.

The organisation of the event foresees the participation of 107 countries, seven thousand companies, with 70 nations going to be officially represented, while others by companies or tourist destinations.

FITUR is a joint initiative of IFEMA Madrid and the United Nation World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), with Angola becoming a « resident participant » for over ten years, under the coordination of the National Institute for Tourism Development (INFOTUR).
