Addis Ababa, 20/05/2024 (MAP) – Morocco insisted on Monday in Addis Ababa before the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU) on supporting African countries in political transition, through the multidimensional Peace, Security and Development approach.

Ambassador Mohamed Arrouchi, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the AU and UNECA, speaking at the 1211th meeting of the PSC, held to take stock of political transitions in Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Niger and Gabon, highlighted the relevance of the multidimensional approach (Nexus Peace, Security and Development), as advocated in the Tangiers Declaration, in supporting countries in transition on the continent.

The diplomat who is leading the Moroccan delegation at this PSC meeting, underscored the importance of developing nexus projects adapted to each situation to tackle the root causes of instability and insecurity,

Arrouchi stressed that the time has come to operationalize the decision of the AU Conference which adopted the Tangiers Declaration, and to move on to the next stage, which is to develop nexus projects in order to give concrete form to support for countries in transition, and to give meaning to this operational dimension.

The diplomat reiterated that Morocco remains firmly committed to the principle of active solidarity, in order to back African countries in their process of political transition towards constitutional order, to the need not to leave these brotherly African countries isolated in times of crisis, in a spirit of solidarity and benevolence, and to the importance of providing these brotherly African countries with security, socio-economic and humanitarian support, so that they can resume their place in the concert of AU members as soon as possible.

Morocco also remains attached to the stability of Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Guinea and Gabon, and continues to express its unwavering confidence in the ability of the national authorities and forces of these countries to take measures likely to strengthen national cohesion, and to embark on a lasting path towards peace and stability, reaffirmed the diplomat.

In addition, Morocco stresses the importance of working within the framework of a calm and inclusive dialogue in order to prioritize the stability of these countries, added Arrouchi.
