CAF Pres. Sees in Choosing Morocco to Host 2030 World Cup ‘Great Pride’ for Africa

Cairo, 12/12/2024 (MAP) – The official designation of Morocco as the host country for the 2030 World Cup, alongside Spain and Portugal, during the FIFA Extraordinary Congress held on Wednesday via videoconference, is « a great pride for African football, » stated the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe.

« This day is a source of great pride for African football, as Morocco becomes the second African country in FIFA history to host the World Cup, » emphasized Motsepe, as quoted in a statement from the Confederation of African Football.

« CAF celebrates this historic event and congratulates Morocco and its partners, Portugal and Spain, » he added.

According to Motsepe, « the alliance between Morocco, Portugal, and Spain represents a symbolic bridge between Africa and Europe through football and inspires all actors in the world of football to work together to make the world a better place. »
