Consumer confidence maintained downward trend in the last quarter – INE

Praia, May 25 (Inforpress) – The consumer confidence indicator maintained the downward trend in the last quarter of 2022 and evolved unfavorably compared to the same period of 2021, the National Statistics Institute (INE) said.

According to the INE, the results for the first quarter of 2022 are below the average of the series, highlighting the decrease in confidence of Cabo Verdean families.

The document reports that households surveyed in the last 12 months, both their economic situation at home and the country’s economic situation have evolved negatively compared to the same quarter. In the opinion of respondents, prices increased while unemployment fell compared to the same period in 2021.

Regarding the item savings, 87.6% of respondents in the first quarter of 2022 considered that the country’s current economic situation still does not allow save money. In the same quarter, this percentage was 86.2%, representing a difference of 1.4 percentage points (pp) between the two periods.
