Rabat, 01/11/2024 (MAP) – A coordination and planning meeting for the 8th General Assembly of the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA), scheduled for January 2025 in Casablanca, was held on Friday in Rabat, under the chairmanship of the Federation’s President Fouad Arif, Director General of the Maghreb Arabe Presse Agency (MAP), in the presence of FAAPA-affiliated agency directors and journalists.
On this occasion, Arif expressed his gratitude to the participants in this meeting for their commitment to promoting FAAPA’s image and elevating the Federation among the most influential press networks on the African continent and beyond.
He explained that this meeting will mark a key moment for African news agencies to develop a convergence of views between the various members, with the aim of coordinating the action of news agencies to protect the sovereignty of information and overcome the challenges facing the African media.
For their part, participants at the meeting welcomed MAP’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with the Federation’s member news agencies, particularly in terms of exchanging professional expertise, with the aim of consolidating FAAPA’s position as a leader in the African media landscape and contributing effectively to the dissemination of credible and diversified information across the continent.
During their stay in Morocco, the delegation of FAAPA journalists paid a visit to the House of Representatives, where they were briefed on the missions and activities of this legislative institution.
The Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies, a professional platform bringing together around thirty news agencies and observer members, aims to promote cooperation and the exchange of experience between African press agencies in all areas of common interest, including news, training, digital and multimedia products.
