Football Federation Holds Ceremony in Honor of Africa’s Runners-Up Moroccan U-17 Team

Rabat, 21/05/2023 (MAP) – The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) organized, on Saturday at the Mohammed VI soccer complex, a ceremony in honor of the staff and players of the national U-17 team, runners-up in Africa.

On this occasion, the president of the FRMF, Fouzi Lekjaa, read the congratulatory message sent by HM King Mohammed VI to the members of the national under-17 soccer team for their exceptional achievement and their qualification for the 2023 World Cup.

HM the King hailed, on this occasion, the efforts made by all components of this promising team, in particular players, coaches, technicians and managers of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, for the achievement of this African feat that honors national soccer at all levels.

The Sovereign expressed his pride in the remarkable maturity and discipline, the great performance, the great competitive spirit and the high morale that the players have shown during this championship, as well as their firm determination to continue to carry the torch of Moroccan soccer and to confirm its influence and distinguished presence in the various continental and international events.

In a speech, Lekjaa affirmed that the results achieved by national soccer are the fruit of the foresight of HM King Mohammed VI’s proactive action, consisting in particular in the creation of the Mohammed VI Football Academy, whose graduates have distinguished themselves in the national teams and in several clubs.

For his part, the coach of the national U-17 team, Said Chiba, said that the performance of the Moroccan players in Algeria shows that nothing is impossible with hard work, discipline and collective spirit, adding that the national elements have delivered strong messages of fair play, commitment and tolerance.
