GFA invites Albert Commey over GPL match-fixing allegation

Accra, June 28, GNA- The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has invited Mr. Albert Commey, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of AshantiGold to assist in investigating some match-fixing claims he made this week.

Mr. Commey whilst being interviewed on a radio station on Monday, June 27, made some claims against Accra Hearts of Oak, Real Tamale United, Aduana Stars, and some other Ghana Premier League clubs being involved in match-fixing scandals.

A statement released by the GFA said  » Mr. Commey made comments in relation to match manipulation and betting activities in the Ghana Premier League”.

According to the GFA, all cases of match manipulation and betting were contrary to the provisions of the GFA code of Ethics 2019, GFA Premier League Regulations 2019, and the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019.

« The GFA has reminded both officials that the FIFA and the GFA Code of Ethics impose duties on participants in football to assist the Association and FIFA in eradicating such ills from the game, » it said

Mr. Commey would meet the GFA committee on Saturday, July,9, 2022 to help in the investigation.
