GPL Wk 2:  Hearts, Kotoko chase first season win, Bofoakwa Tano make home debut after 16-year hiatus

  22 Septembre      16        Sport (7605),

Accra, Sept. 22, GNA – After a difficult start for Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko in week one of the 2023/24 betPawa Ghana Premier League, week two takes centre stage this weekend with some interesting fixtures.

Accra Hearts of Oak would host Nsoatreman FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, as they set sights on securing the first points of the season.

The Phobians would have to put last week’s defeat against Real Tamale United behind them and focus on securing maximum points against a side they beat twice in last season’s league.

Coach Martin Koopman would be seeking his first win for the Phobians, whose last win at the Accra Sports Stadium came in April against relegated side King Faisal.

Asante Kotoko would be looking to put last week’s draw against Heart of Lions aside as they face Bibiani Gold Stars at Duns Park in Bibiani.

Bibiani Gold Stars are yet to beat Kotoko at home since their debut in the league two seasons ago, and Saturday’s tie would be very fascinating as both chase their first win.

Kotoko coach Dr. Prosper Ogum Nartey would certainly be feeling the heat of his comeback to the Porcupine Warriors and could be in real trouble if they fall in Bibiani on Saturday.

Bofoakwa Tano would be making their home debut against Real Tamale United at the ever-famous Sunyani Coronation Park after their 16-year absence in the Ghana Premier League.

Bofoakwa Tano secured a crucial point against Accra Great Olympics in their first match of the season and would be firm favourites to secure maximum at home.

After sharing the spoils with Accra Lions in their first match, reigning Ghana Premier League Champions Medeama will travel to face Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.

Medeama’s outing in this season’s CAF Champions League seems to be going well as they near qualification to the group stages, but they would turn their attention locally as they look to secure their first win of the season.

Accra Lions, who have shifted their home venue to the Sogakope WAFA Park, would host Legon Cities in the first home match of the season, likewise, Nations FC who would host FC Sarmatex 1996 at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

Fixtures for week two:

Bibiani: Gold Stars vs Kotoko (Saturday)
