Hassan II Trophy/Lalla Meryem Golf Cup: TRH Prince Moulay Rachid, Princess Lalla Meryem Chair Prize-Giving Ceremony

Rabat, 24/02/2024 (MAP) – TRH Prince Moulay Rachid and Princess Lalla Meryem chaired, on Saturday at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, the prize-giving ceremony for the winners of the 48th Hassan II Trophy and the 27th Lalla Meryem Golf Cup, organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI from February 19 to 24.

Upon their arrival at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, President of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association, and HRH Princess Lalla Meryem, reviewed a section of the Auxiliary Forces who were paying honors, before being greeted by the Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, and the Delegate Minister to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa.

Their Royal Highnesses were also greeted by the President of the Moroccan National Olympic Committee, Fayçal Laraichi, the Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, Mohamed Yacoubi, members of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association, as well as other dignitaries.

Subsequently, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Moulay Rachid and Princess Lalla Meryem returned to the honor stand, where they were greeted by the Vice President of Player Relations and Administration of the PGA Tour Champions, Jimmy Gabrielsen, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ladies European Tour, Alexandra Armas, before witnessing the final shots to reach the « All Raven » ultimate hole.

Their Royal Highnesses then presented the Pro AM « Hassan II Kids Cup by First Tee » award to the team composed of Rania El Khachani, Adam Takfil, and Youssef Oussari, as well as the Pro AM award of the Hassan II Trophy to the team composed of Graig Calcasola, Ramon Anchia Lay, and Pablo Anchia Lay.

After announcing the winners, HRH Princess Lalla Meryem presented the Cup bearing her name to the winner of the 27th edition, Englishwoman Bronte Law.

Subsequently, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid awarded the Grand Prix of the Hassan II Trophy to the Argentine Ricardo González, winner of the 48th edition.

Their Royal Highnesses then posed for a commemorative photo with the two winners.

In speeches on this occasion, the Vice President of Player Relations and Administration of the PGA Tour Champions, Jimmy Gabrielsen, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ladies European Tour, Alexandra Armas, praised the hospitality and warm welcome extended by the Kingdom of Morocco to the participants in the Hassan II Trophy and the Lalla Meryem Golf Cup and to various guests, noting that these two tournaments took place in an atmosphere of fair play and healthy competition.

On his part, the 1st Vice President of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation, Mostafa Zine, affirmed that this edition of the Hassan II Trophy, held under the theme « The return of champions, » is « exceptional » because it saw the participation of the biggest global stars in the discipline, including former winners like the Scottish Colin Montgomerie (1997) and the Spaniard Santiago Luna, the tournament record holder with three victories (1998, 2002, and 2003).

For their part, Argentine Ricardo González and Englishwoman Bronte Law expressed their joy at winning the titles of the 48th edition of the Hassan II Trophy and the 27th edition of the Lalla Meryem Cup, praising the quality of the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam courses that provided them with good conditions to showcase their best level and excel in this competition.
