HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Chairs Final of 7th Edition of His Majesty King Mohammed VI Grand Prix of Tbourida in El Jadida

El Jadida, 05/10/2024 (MAP) – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan chaired, on Saturday at the Mohammed VI Exhibition Park, the final of the 7th edition of His Majesty King Mohammed VI Grand Prix of Tbourida, organized as part of the 15th edition of El Jadida’s Salon du Cheval (Horse Show).

Upon his arrival at the Exhibition Park, HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan was welcomed by Moulay Abdellah Alaoui, President of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports (FRMSE), before viewing a section of the Royal Guard, which rendered honors.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan was then greeted by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki; the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid; the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Younes Shimi; the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region and Governor of the Casablanca Prefecture, Mohamed Mhidia; the President of the Regional Council, Abdellatif Maâzouz; and the Interim Governor of the province of El Jadida, Mohamed Samir El Khamlichi.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan was also greeted by the President of the Provincial Council, the President of the Haouzia commune, members of the Board of the Horse Show Association, and representatives of the event’s sponsors.

Following this, HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan took his seat in the royal tent, where His Royal Highness observed the final of the 7th His Majesty King Mohammed VI Grand Prix of Tbourida, which featured 18 Sorbas (teams) representing various regions of the Kingdom.

At the end of this prestigious competition, HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan awarded the His Majesty King Mohammed VI Grand Prix of Tbourida to the Sorba of Moqaddem Charaf El Bahraoui from the Marrakech-Safi region, the second prize to the Sorba of Moqaddem Abdelrhani Benkhadda from the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, and the third prize to the Sorba of Moqaddem Hamid Serfak from the Marrakech-Safi region.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan then posed for a commemorative photo with the three winning Sorbas of this competition, which celebrates this important discipline, inscribed since 2021 on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The Sorbas participating in the His Majesty King Mohammed VI Grand Prix of Tbourida are assessed based on criteria set by the judges of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports, which include the unity of the riders’ movements, the rhythm of the gallop, the handling of rifles, the timing of the shot, traditional attire, and the saddle.

The riders are also evaluated on their level of coordination and communication, their mastery of their mounts, as well as the overall appearance of both rider and horse.
