Accra, Nov.1, GNA-Black Stars duo, Mohammed Kudus and Thomas Partey have been nominated for the 2023 CAF Player of the Year award.

The duo, having made exploits with the Black Stars and their respective clubs were the only Ghanaians contending for the prestigious slot with 28 others.

Kudus in the past few months has made headlines in Europe and Ghana, scoring goals for his former side, Ajax  in the Champions League and West Ham United, his current club.

The 23-year-old went on to make waves in last year’s World Cup, as he became Ghana’s first player to score a brace at the mundial.

He crowned his debut appearance with two goals in all three games played, as he was adjudged the man of the match in Ghana’s group stage win against South Korea.

Thomas Partey has also been phenomenal for the Black Stars and his club side, Arsenal FC.

He played a key part in Arsenal’s Premier League success in the 2022/23 league season.

The likes of Sadio Mane, Mohammed Salah, Hakim Ziyech, Achraf Hakimi, Riyard Mahrez and some few others were big names in the category.

Ernest Nuamah would also contend with nine others for the CAF Young Player of the Year award.

The Right to Dream prodigy had his breakthrough after making his debut for the senior national team of Ghana, Black Stars.

His impressive performance put him on the world radar as top European clubs were in competition for his signature.

He made a move to French side, Olympique Lyonnais in August this year.

According to CAF, the ultimate winner of each category will be decided after votes from a panel consisting of CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, Head Coaches and Captains of Member Associations and clubs involved in the group stages of the Interclub competitions.
