Massive Clean-up Commences In Robertsport Ahead “July 26”

SINJE TOWN, July 25 (LINA) – Ahead of this year’s July 26 Independence Day celebration in Grand Cape Mount Country, massive cleaning up is ongoing in Robertsport City, the capital of the county.

The sanitation campaign, which is being led by the City Mayor, J. Edwin Korha, has seen a huge turnout by residents of the city.

Speaking to newsmen at one of the cleaning sites, Mayor Korha said the clean-up exercise is intended to give the city a facelift as it prepares for the Independence Day celebration on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

According to the Robertsport City Mayor, the exercise will cover the entire city limits, including the various beaches in the environment.

He said the Robertsport City Corporation is highly impressed by the cooperation of residents of the city regarding the exercise which, he noted, is helping to speed up the process.

Mayor Korha expressed thanks to residents of the coastal city for their willingness to help the city government bring sanity to the city.

Meanwhile, Mayor Korha has expressed disappointment in property owners who are leaving their lands unattended which have been engulfed by heavy bushes.

“These abandoned lands are the ones giving us serious problems because owners of these lands did not leave anybody to take care of these areas which are impeding the city’s cleanliness,” Mayor Korha lamented.

“We have called on them several times to come and clean their property but we don’t see them coming; we are now thinking of taking court action; perhaps that may help,” he added.

In remarks, the head of the program committee of the July 26

Independence Day Celebration, Lauranzo Karteh, applauded the residents of Robertsport for their commitment to ensuring that the city is given a facelift.

He added that with the commitment from the residents, particularly young folks, this year’s Independence Day celebration will be held in a cleaner Robertsport City.

Outlining the activities of the celebration, the head of the program committee said the event will kick-start on July 26, 2022, with a parade through the principal streets of Robertsport, to be followed by an indoor program at the Robertsport City Centennial Hall.

The indoor program, he said, will be followed by soccer and kickball matches between the Commonwealth District and Garwula District at the Momo Taweh Sports Stadium in the city, while the activities will be climaxed with an Independence Day Ball at the Centennial Hall of Robertsport City.
