BUCHANAN, Sept. 12 (LINA) – Ahead of the reopening of schools across Liberia, the winner of the National Best Principal of the Year, Emmanuel Z. Wragboe, has turned over L$100,000 to the Principal Association of Grand Bassa to aid financially constrained students remain in school.
The cash presentation ceremony was held at the government-run Bassa Demonstration Junior School in Grand Bassa capital city, Buchanan, where Mr. Wragboe is serving as Principal.
The program had in attendance the head of the County Principal Association, Theophilus Frankdyu and other dignitaries.
Wragboe’s presentation is in fulfillment of his recent commitment made when he was crowned in Monrovia in August 2022 as the Ministry of Education Best Principal of the year with a cash Prize of L$375k (three hundred seventy five thousand) Liberian dollars.
The Award is an annual motivational strategy of the Ministry of Education under the Weah-led Government to ensure excellent output of public school teachers that would result to quality education delivery in the country.
« As I present this award and cash on behalf of all the selfless and hard-working public school Principals and workers, I wish to remind this gathering that we are today planting a seed for the future that will ignite in us the spirit of excellence, innovation, commitment to duty and love for country, »;Wragboe said.
While also unveiling his Award to family members, mentors and all Liberian children, Wragboe admonished everyone to work harder in promoting quality education and make the nation great.
He lauded county leaders and prominent citizens as well as Arcelor-Mittal-Liberia for their continuous supports toward his professional development and the Demonstration School.
At the program in Buchanan City, Mr. Theophilus Frankdyu, on behalf of the local Principal Association, received both the Award and the cash for onward presentation to the county Education Authority as he congratulated the Celebrant for capturing the prestigious Award, and bringing pride to the people of Grand Bassa.
Though President Frankdyu did not disclose detail about the fund expenditure plan, but a Committee comprising Madam Mai Pailey, Eugene U. Tarr, Du-Ben Cleon, and Henry B. Gibson, among others, was announced for the task.
Considering the pronouncement, the L$100,000 will impact young people in the county’s five electoral districts that host more than 200 public schools, including elementary, junior and five senior high institutions.
Prior to Emmanuel Wragboe winning the Award, he served as Principal of the New Hope Foundation High School, Bishop John W. Foster Junior High School, while he was Vice Principal of the William V.S Tubman Junior High School following years of service teaching in the classroom.
