Moroccan news agency gets new Director-General

Abuja, May 22, 2023 (NAN) Mr Fouad Arif has been appointed the new Director-General (DG) of the Moroccan News Agency (MAP).

MAP currently holds the presidency of the FAAPA.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Arif`s   appointment followed the death of Mr Khalil  Idrissi on April 8.

This is contained in a statement by Mr Mohamed Anis, Secretary General, Atlantic Federation of African News Agency (FAAPA) on Monday in Abuja.

Arif holds a diploma of Higher Specialised Studies from the King Fahd Higher School of Translation in Tangier, Morocco in 1993.

He began his career as a journalist at MAP in 1994 before serving in various positions within the agency.

Arif was the international Editor-In-Chief of the agency, before his appointment as head of the agency’s office in Paris, France later Director, North America region.

He was elected in 2018 as Secretary-General of the National Press Club (NPC) in Washington, D.C.

Arif has also been advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates since 2019.

NAN reports that with the appointment of Arif as D-G of MAP, he automatically becomes the president of FAAPA.
