NAN signs MOU with Bulgarian News Agency

Abuja, June 14, 2022(NAN) The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) to exchange news content that will enrich both countries directly.

The signing of the MoU was done between the Director-General of BTA Mr Kiril Valchev, and the Managing Director of NAN, Mr Buki Ponle at NAN Headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking, Valchev said that the MoU marked the first agreement to be reached in 25 years by the BTA which would be the beginning of the cordial exchange of purposeful programmes, news content and friendship.

Valchev added that BTA publishes more than one thousand news copies of news and three thousand photos every day and would henceforth add NAN news to its daily published news.

He promised to exchange reporters to cover the Bulgarian news events and to also assist NAN in opening its office in Bulgaria, adding that, it would help both agencies find the right news story.

He assured that the reopening of the NAN office in Bulgaria would begin in early 2023.

Responding, the MD Mr Ponle welcomed the idea from his Bulgarian counterpart in the reopening of the Bulgarian NAN office.

He said the agency would not regret the cooperation between the duo countries and pledged his full support to the agreement.

The NAN boss said the ceremony marked a significant milestone between the agency and the Bulgarian agency, adding that it was the beginning of a sustainable mutual cooperation and development.

He stressed that the world was becoming a small global village and that NAN has a major role to play in the global village.

Ponle said that NAN was trustworthy due to its credible, truth, relevant and up to date news content which is the centre of reliance.

He added that NAN is the largest content provider in Nigeria and has maintained its position in the 36 states in Nigeria and worldwide.
