PARLIAMENT OF SIERRA LEONE SCORES 81% ON OPENNESS

(SLENA, 15th December, 2021). Members of the Steering Committee on Open Government Partnership (OGP) including Parliament of Sierra Leone, Campaign for Good Governance and the National Council for Civic Education and Development today on Thursday 9th December 2021 met in the Speaker’s Board Room, Parliament Building to discuss commitments made and achieved under the National Action Plan (NAP) 3 and to validate commitments on NAP 4 hinging on openness, accessibility, transparency and accountability in governance.

The validation exercise was supported by Westminster Foundation for Democracy.

OGP Steering Committee member Madam Yeama Thompson commended the Parliament of Sierra Leone for scoring 81% out of 100% on openness, accessibility, transparency, and accountability based on its commitments under NAP 3.

She highlighted that Parliament of Sierra Leone on several innovative fronts such as the construction of a ramp to allow persons that are differently able to access the precincts of the Parliament of Sierra Leone; adding representative democracy should touch every sphere of life regardless of their creed, religion, political opinions, or beliefs.
