Monrovia, 20/01/2023 (MAP) – Liberian president George Weah reaffirmed his « strong and total » support for Morocco’s bid to host the African Cup of Nations (CAN-2025), describing as « false and misleading » the information relayed by international media that he would support Algeria.

« Liberia fully endorses and supports Morocco’s bid to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, » said George Weah in a statement by his Executive, insisting that this commitment is « set in stone ».

Furthermore, the world soccer legend highlighted the remarkable investments that Morocco continues to make for the development of soccer, which allows the Kingdom to host the biggest competitions of African and world soccer.

He also welcomed the immense pride that Morocco has brought to Africa during the World Cup (Qatar-2022), while stressing that « Africa must in turn honor the Kingdom by awarding it the organization of the CAN-2025.

President Weah said he had already begun to campaign for Morocco with soccer actors on the continent.
