Tema, May 26, GNA – The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) says it has invested in educational infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning in the institutions in Tema.

The infrastructure investment, which seeks to add to the already existing structures comprises fence walls, a library situated inside the Kwame Nkrumah Park, a dormitory facility at Manyhian and recreational centres across all the government schools within the Tema metropolis.

Mr Frank Asante, TMA Public Relation Officer, speaking to Ghana News Agency in Tema, said the TMA was embarking on an exercise to secure public school lands and fence them to prevent people from entering the schools to disrupt academic work.

Mr Asante said the Assembly, through its Internally Generated Fund and in partnership with some corporate institutions, assisted the TMA to complete and fence almost all the 18 clusters of schools within Tema.

He said the TMA also planned to enhance security on campus. “At a point, we will assign our metro guards or police and also set up some security offices to monitor security issues on campus.

“We will provide health personnel and nurses in public schools where students can run to when they are sick,” he said.
Mr Asante said, as part of plans, the Assembly would build accommodation for the teachers in the school.
