Appoint Dr. Barimah as Sunyani MCE-Association appeals
Sunyani, May 22, GNA-The Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint Dr. Kofi Bobi Barimah as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sunyani in the interest of development through absolute peace.
The Association said « our decision is out of careful thought thorough assessment of the six applicants and their respective individual abilities to balance development and peace in Sunyani ».
This was contained in a press release jointly signed by Messrs Atta Akoto Senior and Nana Akomea Sakyi, President and Secretary respectively and copied the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani.
The release said Dr. Barimah, currently the Executive Director of the Centre for Plant Medicine Research at Akuapem Mampong, Eastern Region stood tallest and most qualified as the right candidate for that position.
It said based on experience of previous appointments for Sunyani, Dr. Barimah would best be a listening MCE and cooperate with Sunyani Traditional Authorities and other stakeholders to facilitate peace and speedy holistic development.
The release explained “Sunyani has always been peaceful, but current happenings within the New Patriotic Party in the Municipality give so much cause to worry, because it is certain that development cannot thrive without peace.
“We fear that if care is not taken, the choice of some candidates could only create a murky ground for further grudge which would definitely and ultimately affect Sunyani’s development.
« Considering the hallmark of Dr. Barimah, particularly pertaining to his industriousness, ingenuity and track record as being a game changer at wherever he has worked, we are confident he is not going to experiment with our dear Sunyani as the MCE, but will bring real development to the Municipality », it added.
The release stressed Dr. Barimah had all it takes to perform, saying while in Canada he was once tasked to chair an adhoc committee that brought peace and unity to Ghanaian associations that had wrangling and misunderstanding among them and that feat gave him recognition at the Canadian House of Commons.
“This is enough to say that his choice would surely inure to peaceful Sunyani, because looking at his background as a public health expert, his international connections and his expertise in public administration, there is no doubt that he is the choice that is required to bring real developments to Sunyani”, the release concluded
