Praia, Jun 16 (Inforpress) – The national technical committee to the “Coastal Fishing Initiative” (IPC) project called for the improvement of working conditions at sea, proposing to cooperate in the preparation of some proposals to be “timely” submitted to those entitled.
This position was expressed by the project administrator, Edelmira Carvalho, in a statement to the press about an IPC meeting held on Wednesday, with the aim of following the purposes of its creation: to supervise the operational implementation of the project’s activities and the course of interventions at the pilot sites, the islands of Maio and São Vicente.
With regard to the basic recommendations came out of the meeting, the official said it is recognised that there is an evolution on the project’s activities, many studies have been done and validated, but on the other hand, she acknowledged the issue of improving working conditions at sea must be continued.
“Today the issue of many fishermen who go overboard, there is no employment contract,  there is no social security scheme.
