MONROVIA, Oct. 11 (LINA) – The Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), Ledgerhood J. Rennie, has rubbished a story published on the frontpage of the Independent Newspaper suggesting that he is contemplating resigning his post in government.

The paper quoted what it called « credible sources » within MICAT as source of the information.

Minister Rennie said he was bewildered when he read the story, adding that he has not harbored any such intention.

« I wish to first distance myself from the publication as I have harbored no such intention, » he indicated.

The Information Minister noted that he remains committed to serving his country and “appreciates the opportunity given by His Excellency Dr. George M. Weah.”

He further stated that while he has been away in the US, he still had access to many media or other communications and was still available to the publisher of the Independent Newspaper, but it was unfortunately never utilized.

« I owe it to the public, as a senior official, to make the necessary clarification in order to uphold their trust, while executing my duties and role as Minister, » he emphasized.

It can be recalled that on October 10, 2022, the Independent Newspaper reported a story on its front page titled « Ledgerhood To Resign? …As Gov’t Cut-Off PR Funds ».
