Accra, Aug. 02, GNA – The Kwahu South District Assembly(KSDA) has cut sod for the construction of a GHC254,000.00 three- units classroom block with ancillary facilities for the Asakraka D/A Basic School at Asakraka in the Kwahu South District.
The project funded with the District Development Fund (DDF) has been awarded to Akofex Ventures and was expected to be completed in six months.
On completion, the project would contain staff common room, computer room, head teacher’s office and store room.
Mr Emmanuel Ofori-Atta, the KSDA Chief Executive (DCE), said the construction of school blocks was to address the infrastructural challenges facing the education sector throughout the District.
He said it was the vision of the Assembly for all public schools in the District to be improved and properly equipped to deliver quality education to every child of school-going age.
The DCE observed that the progress of the country hinged on the acquisition of skills and knowledge that have a bearing on the natural resources that were abundant in the country.
Mr Ofori-Atta urged the contractor to work around the clock to ensure that the work was completed on schedule.
He appealed to parents to send their children to school to justify the huge government investments to boost education.
He therefore advised the school children to study hard to enable them pass their examinations.
Present at the ceremony were representatives from the traditional authorities, assembly member of the area, and representatives from the Christian Council among others.
