Abesim, (B/A), Aug 11, GNA – Servants of the Sanctuary of the Anglican Church of Ghana are experiencing terrible and sleepless nights, as bed bugs have invaded the St James Seminary and Senior High School (SHS) in the Sunyani Municipality.
The more than 300 servants of the church are attending the 15th biennial national delegates’ conference, underway at the school’s premises at Abesim.
The insects have invaded the various classrooms and the boys’ dormitories, but school authorities said they were working hard to eliminate them.
The school is on long vacation and authorities are optimistic that the situation would be brought under control before it re-opens.
Reverend Father Gordon Tawiah, the Vice Rector of the School, expressed discomfort with the problem and pleaded with the servants to manage with the situation as the school upped measures to solve the problem.
The four-day conference is on the theme « restructuring the server’s guild to fit the liturgical changes in the Anglican Church ».
Rev Tawiah could not give reasons for the spread of the insects, but added it could be attributed to poor hygienic condition.
The Right Rev Dr Festus Yeboah-Asuamah, the Anglican Bishop of the Sunyani Diocese, regretted the situation and appealed to the school authorities to do something about it to enable the participants to go through their spiritual exercises successfully.
He described the situation, which he added had become a national canker in all the various SHSs as unfortunate and unacceptable that needed to be addressed as soon as possible.
