Cheetah FC donates to Special Olympics Ghana

Accra, Jan. 21, GNA- Cheetah FC, as part of its 10 year anniversary celebrations, has donated an amount of Ghc2000 and assorted items to Ghana’s Special School Olympics team, ahead of their games in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The equipment, includes, sets of jerseys, footballs, training bibs, cones, with six boxes of bottle water and toilet rolls.

The donation, was to aid their preparations for the Special Olympic Games, scheduled for 14-21 March, this year.

Mr Abdul Haye-Yartey President of Cheetah FC, stated that the club was motivated, to donate after hearing that, the Special Olympics Team, would be competing in the World Games.

« We heard that the Special Olympics Team is going for the World Olympic Games in Abu Dhabi and if God has blessed us, then we have to give back to society. That’s why we did this donation and we would do more, » he said.

Nana Wereko Ampem-Opoku who is a Board Member of Special Olympics Ghana ,who received the items on behalf of the team thanked Mr Yartey and his team for this kind gesture.

According to him, the items have come at the right time to lessen the financial burden attached to the preparation for the World Games.

He however appealed to the corporate world to come to their assistance to be able to do more than they did in the last edition in Los Angeles, United States of America (USA).

« We have a strong team and preparations are still going on for the World games. We thank Cheetah FC for the donation and I also use this to appeal to all to come to our aid to support us. » He said.

Ghana will compete in 7aside and 5aside soccer, athletics and dancing competition in the weeklong event.

Team Ghana would be going into the competition with 30 man Contingents which includes 14 Footballers, four Athletes, four Coaches and Government officials.

Cheetah FC is a second division Club which has helped to groom lots of talents in the country including Newcastle United’s Christian Atsu, Mubarak Wakasu and many others playing in and outside the country.
