Abuja, May 31, 2019 (NAN) The Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mr Christian Ohaa, has expressed appreciation to the Government of the Republic of Korea for its contribution to the educational development of the territory.

Ohaa gave the appreciation at the Nigeria/Korea Model School Piwoyi, during the visit of the Deputy Speaker of the Korean National Assembly, Lee Ju Young to the school on Friday in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Ohaa also used the occasion to laud the Country Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Woochan Chang, for her efforts toward the timely completion of the model school.

“I will like to use this opportunity to appreciate the Government of the Republic of Korea and International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for their continuous collaboration and cooperation with the FCTA.

“I commend especially the Country Director of KOICA for her determination to see to the completion of this school on schedule,” he said.

He described the establishment of Nigeria/Model school as a proof of fruitful and beneficial relationship that exists between both countries.

“It is also my pleasure to welcome you to the Nigeria-Korea Model School which is the result of a very fruitful relationship between the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Government of the Republic of Korea,’’ he said.

According to him, the school has impacted positively on the lives of various stakeholders in form of teachers training and promotion of quality education.

“I believe that all the stakeholders on the project have benefitted in one way or the other from the project.

“This is either through the training of teachers or the advancement of a standard education that is now being enjoyed by the students and teachers of the Nigeria-Korea Model School”.

Lee, who described the relationship between Nigeria and Korea as mutually beneficial, disclosed that Korea would take charge of the maintenance of the school on permanent basis.

He was accompanied on the visit to the school by a delegation of Parliamentarians from the Republic of Korea.

The Nigeria/Korea Model School was constructed and donated to the FCT by the KOICA and was inaugurated last year by Prof. Anthony Anwuka, the former Minister of State for Education on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari.
