Accra,(Ash), Sept. 12, GNA – Mr. Samuel Addai Agyekum, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Kumawu, has urged public Senior High School (SHS) authorities to be proactive in handling some of the challenges that might crop up in the management of their schools.

He said the implementation of the double-track system in the free SHS’s programme would certainly bring up some challenges in its wake.

However, such challenges could be promptly dealt with if school authorities responded quickly and directed them to the appropriate authorities to resolve them.

Addressing the management and staff of the Dadease Agricultural SHS, he said, timely interventions to resolve issues were necessary to address some of the challenges to promote quality education delivery in schools.

The visit was part of a two day tour of various SHS’s in the District to assess the enrollment process under the double-track system in the schools.

It was also to provide the leadership of the District Assembly and the Ghana Education Service (GES) with a field experience of some of the challenges being encountered by school authorities in the implementation of the new educational policy.

« Challenges will always pop up in the schools but the level and time of response from school authorities to the appropriate places such as GES and the Assembly, among other places, for resolution is necessary in building the confidence of parents, guardians and all stakeholders in the sector », Mr. Agyekum stressed.

He commended school authorities, parents and guardians for cooperating to ensure the successful take-off of the new system.

Mr. Paul Antwi Oppong, District Director of Education urged school authorities to exhibit professionalism in the handling of issues and challenges that might face them in the discharge of their duties.
