GANTA, Jan. 16 (LINA) – The Ministry of Education (MoE) has placed 277 supplementary teachers in Nimba County on its payroll.

Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) in Nimba on Monday, National Teachers Association of Liberia (NTAL) Bain-Garr School District President, Edward Lonkia, said the over 200 teachers were part of the 537 supplementary teachers who have been rendering services in the county for many years.

According to the NTAL local official, some of teachers who were recently placed on regular payroll volunteered for more than ten years and noted that he is very pleased with the government under the stewardship of President George Manneh Weah for the strives to put smiles on the faces of the teachers.

Lonkia also lauded the Civil Service Agency for being very instrumental in ensuring that the teachers are placed on payroll after years of volunteering their services to provide education to the future generation.

He then challenged the beneficiaries to live up to the expectations of the Ministry of Education by conducting themselves professionally and to be passionate about the job they do, even in the face of some pressing challenges.

Meanwhile, Lonkia told LINA that he is working with national executives of the NTAL and relevant partners to ensure that the remaining supplementary teachers are placed on regular government payroll.

He admonished teachers who are yet to be incorporated on the payroll to remain hopeful and continue to demonstrate their commitment to moulding the minds of the students as all is being done to address their situation in the soonest possible time.
