Kpodzivi (V/R), Nov. 09, GNA-My Edu-Aid Ghana, a non –governmental organization (NGO) has donated educational materials to Kpodzivi DA primary School at Kpodzivi in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region.
The Donation, which took place at the school premises was part of the organization’s humanitarian activities aimed at encouraging pupils and parents in deprived communities to know the importance of education.
The donation comprised of learning aids and other items such as school uniforms and foot wears for both male and female pupils of the school.
An elated headmaster of the school, Mr. James Deynu, commended the organisers of the project and said the donation was timely and would help enhance teaching and learning in the school.
“I think the donation by My Edu-Aid Ghana is a great one that will help most of the pupils here and I am sure those who are feeling hesitant to come to school will make amends.”
Mr. Deynu appealed to government officials present at the function to continue assisting the school since there were numerous needs facing the school.
He revealed that the school had inadequate classrooms, had no Junior High School students because of lack of classrooms among others.
He also requested from the District Chief Executive of the area to bring government’s “free school feeding programme” to the school.
The Director of Education for Akatsi South, Mr. Joseph Yoga Adovor, underscored the importance of community participation in promoting quality education.
This he said, rested on parents by putting their maximum efforts in the educational affairs of their wards.
The District Chief Executive DCE for Akatsi South, Mr. Leo Nelson Adzidogah, who was the special guest of honour promised to bring government’s “free school feeding” programme to the school to curtail the struggle parents had to go through in feeding their wards.
He also assured renovating the dilapidated school block of the school.
Mr. Edem Stanley Attivor, the team leader of My Edu-Aid Ghana who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the presentation said, they will continue supporting all needy pupils in the District.
“We realised that when you go to the remote areas, parents and students do not know the essence of education. So we had to undertake this project to let them know that education is important”
Mrs. Beauty Awudi, a mother of three expressed her excitement to the donors and promised they will ensure the items given their wards would be put to proper use.
