Tamale, April 12, GNA – The Ghana Library Authority (GLA) in the Northern Region has held an event dubbed: « Personality Read » to encourage and keep the momentum of reading amongst the people.
Personality Read, which formed part of activities marking the GLA’s Year of Reading, featured Hajia Fati Musah, Manager of Agricultural Development Bank, Tamale – Main branch, who read the « Snow White and Seven Dwarfs » from Ladybird Tales to over 250 pupils.
The pupils, drawn from Tishigu Anglican School, Dakpema Basic School and Police Barracks Basic School, all in the Tamale Metropolis, took turns to ask Hajia Musah questions as well as seek clarifications on the book.
They also read other books as part of efforts to whip up their interest in reading.
Hajia Musah, in a statement during the event in Tamale, entreated all to take reading seriously to open their minds to new things, which would help them to excel in their various fields of endeavour.
She also encouraged all to regularly visit the library to build their knowledge advising children to lead responsible lifestyles.
Mr Aaron Kuwornu, Northern Regional Librarian, said the Library would be undertaking a number of activities during the year as part of efforts to encourage and remind all about the benefits of reading.
Meanwhile, the Dr Tinorgah Family in Tamale, who is a friend of the Northern Regional Library, in view of the Year of Reading, has donated 189 copies of children’s books to the library to augment its stock.
