MONROVIA, July 11 (LINA) – Plan International Ambassador Laurent Simmons has stressed the need for Liberians to invest in education as a means of eradicating poverty from the nation.

Ambassador Simmons stated that investing in quality education for girls and boys will go a long way to enhance the potential of young Liberians to realize their future dreams.

The Plan International Ambassador made the comments in an interview with journalists at a program marking Plan International Liberia’s   Brand Ambassador Staff, partners’ motivational session held at a local hotel in Sinkor, Monrovia on Wednesday.
.
According to him, education is the key to eradicate poverty and Plan International is working along with government and the various communities to encourage young people to remain in school.

He described education as “a bank,” noting that if young people, particularly girls, in any country obtain quality education it would enhance their chances of overcoming poverty at the family level in the society.

Simmons noted that putting smile on the faces of young people around the world through his cycling tours is intended to encourage them to go to school, something which gives him joy.

He explained that Liberians should not encourage negative practices which seek to suppress the potential of young girls in the country, adding that they should rather be allowed to develop their potential educationally.

Simmons asserted that young Liberians should live their dreams through determination and dedication in order to bring these dreams to reality.

Ambassador Simmons emphasized that poverty can be eradicated if children in developing countries are provided quality education to transform their living standard.
