Accra, June 5, GNA- A project to build evidences to engage duty-bearers to integrate teaching of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in Colleges of Education and partner Ghana Education Service (GES) on integrating CSE into its in-service training has begun.
The year-long project dubbed: “Phase IV of Innovative Sexuality Education Project (ISEP IV)” is an initiative of NORSAAC, an NGO, in partnership with Axis, a Danish NGO, with funding from DANIDA, and is being implemented at the Bagabaga College of Education and Gambaga College of Education in the Northern and North East Regions.
It seeks to build on three successive interrelated projects that created awareness on sexuality education, developed and implemented participatory manuals and models on sexuality education and generally strengthened communities and state institutions to deliver CSE in schools in limited areas of the country.
In line with the project, a stakeholders’ inception meeting was held in Tamale to discuss its details and what was required of stakeholders to ensure its effective implementation.
During the meeting, stakeholders made some suggestions to ensure sustainability of the project and declared their support for it, assuring to play their parts to ensure its successful implementation for the benefit of pupils in the country.
Mr Joseph Aboyinga, Vice Principal of Gambaga College of Education lauded the project saying the College deemed it fit to support it because it would enable them to serve as facilitators during national implementation of CSE in the near future.
Madam Hafsatu Sey Sumani, Head of Programmes and Policy at NORSAAC thanked partners for their support for the project, which would help to sustain it.
