São Vicente: Uni-Mindelo/Jorge Barbosa High School Partnership “improves vision” to needy students

Mindelo, Apr 10 (Inforpress) – Close to 40 needy students from Jorge Barbosa High School (ESJB) are benefiting from assessment of the orthoptists and offering glasses by an Italian entity, in a tripartite partnership also involving the University of Mindelo.
As explained by the orthoptist Sonia Rodrigues, from the Clinical and Experimental Center of Vision Sciences, University of Mindelo (Uni-Mindelo), it was a request from ESJB, which prepared the project, for three orthoptists to consultation a group of 38 students, since the school had signed an agreement with an Italian entity, whose name was not disclosed, for donation of glasses.
That is, the entity in Italy made available for the acquisition of glasses and Uni-Mindelo for free consultations to identify the needs and indispensable prescriptions to be sent to Italy.
Sonia Rodrigues also reported that of the 38 students enrolled in the program, 28 have already been evaluated and, of these, 23 suffered from refractive errors, that is, explained, myopia, hyperopias and stigmatism.
