Southern Command commissions accommodation block and gate guardhouse

Accra Jan. 7, GNA- Brigadier-General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, former General Officer Commanding (GOC), Southern Command (S/Comd) has commissioned a six-bedroom self-contained accommodation and a guardhouse for the Eastern Gate at HQ, for soldiers of S/Comd Headquarters (HQ).
This project would cater for the increase in enlistment into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to commensurate with general infrastructure development and accommodation provision in particular, with recent demands skyrocketing.
The commissioning ceremony was witnessed by personnel of GAF and the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Mayfair Estates Limited, Buildaf Company Limited and Paragon Co Ltd, who variously helped in the construction of structures at the Command HQ.
In their various contributions to projects at the Command, Mayfair Estates Limited – a real Estates company – bore the entire cost of the construction of the apartments christened « Mayfair Block » Buildaf Company Limited bore the cost of the Eastern Gate guardhouse from foundation to roofing level.
Additionally, Paragon Co. Ltd undertook the painting and tiling of the guardhouse, renovated two accommodation blocks and the Kpeshie Medical Centre, re-roofed the dining hall and reconstructed the Military Police Post, all at the HQ, at the company’s expense.
« Having been actively involved personally, in the genesis of these projects and, as a living witness and a participant in several meetings, I can only express my joy and satisfaction in commissioning them », Brigadier-General Oppong-Peprah said.
« I appeal to the men and women who will be allocated these self-contained rooms and those who would rest in the guardhouse, to take good care of the facilities and consider them a privilege to reside in them and not leave them to deteriorate », the former GOC said.
Dignitaries present were; Brigadier-General Osei-Wusu – Director-General, Defence Industries Department, Paa Kwesi Serebuor – CEO, Paragon Co. Ltd, Mr Abu Frimpong Kwaning – CEO, Buildaf Company Limited and Mr Noble John Watson Otumfuo – CEO, Mayfair Estates Limited and many others.
